Re: Andrew's Brace of Sea Harriers
ESCI Sea Harrier based coats finished.
Just a couple of tiny paint runs to correct.
The underwing tanks for the Indian Navy Sea Harrier are mostly painted. A bit of grey needed.

Looking Good Andrew, your at about the same stage as me, I just need to finish the paintwork and a few more bits and bobs.

Re: Andrew's Brace of Sea Harriers
This one will be a "shortly after delivery" aircraft, so no underwing stores, just pylons and strakes instead of the cannon pods.Maverick231 wrote:Looking Good Andrew, your at about the same stage as me, I just need to finish the paintwork and a few more bits and bobs.
Even the jet exhaust nozzles are EDSG!

I wanted to have Canon pods on mine but the matchbox kit doesn't come with any.

I put the ESCI cannon pods on the Matchbox kit. Pavla do some nice resin pods, but it's almost as cheap to buy the Academy repop.Maverick231 wrote:I wanted to have Canon pods on mine but the matchbox kit doesn't come with any.

Re: Andrew's Brace of Sea Harriers
The drop tanks get their decals, so the MB Sea Harrier is very close to finishing.
And the very nice Academy decals are applied to the other kit.
I've also installed the jet nozzles and deflector plates.

Almost finished the MB Sea Harrier.
A couple of blade aerials to scratchbuild and attach, and a bit more varnish. Then I'm just waiting for the pitot tubes to arrive.

Looks like a Sea Harrier to me. I've always thought matchbox were favorable kits. Well done!

Re: Andrew's Brace of Sea Harriers
Nice work on both Harriers Andrew; I have at least one MB version in the stash (somewhere ) so I may have to dig it out!
Best wishes

Another batch of stencils on the Academy kit.
As approved by Okapis everywhere.
The pylons and wheels can go on now.

My favourite scheme. Although that medium grey and white scheme on Iggy's Spanish version looks very smart.Old_Tonto wrote:Looking very nice in that EDSG scheme.
The pitot tubes have arrived, and the MB Sea Harrier has had a bit more varnish. So it just needs pitot tube and blade aerials adding. Maybe tonight, if Young Master Hyperactive cooperates with bedtime!

Re: Andrew's Brace of Sea Harriers *Half Finished! *
In between exam marking sessions, I have managed to get the Matchbox Sea Harrier finished.
The resin seat helps improve the cockpit area, and adding the pilot hides a multitude of sins
I've not made any effort on rescribing or adding any of the missing details.
Using the cannons and some of the pylons and stores from the ESCI/Academy kit definitely improves things.
Most of the decals are from the Academy kit too, and behaved very nicely.
The jet intakes are also "borrowed" from the ESCI kit. The auxiliary intakes may be closed, but at least they are in the right place.
A Master pitot tube completes the enhancements.
Enjoyable build all-round. Not out of box, but nothing too complicated.

It looks very dramatic posed in flight; the contrast of the EDSG and the Indian roundels is eye-catching to say the least! Nice one!
Best wishes
