Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Brilliant work for an old kit it really has scrubbed up well, you have demonstrated that by just cross kitting some of the parts you can produce an excellent result.
Updating one kit with after market parts and using the replaced parts to update another kit is pure genius.

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Here's the Academy/ESCI kit, with most of the gubbins attached.
There are a few fragile looking blade aerials to attach, but I think I'm going to varnish this now. I'm bound to break aerials off.

The front canopy has some sort of mould defect on it. I think they tried to patch up the tooling.
It's by far the worst thing about the kit.
The paint job at the nose needs fixing, but I may have to install the pitot tube first.

Lovely SHAR mate!
I'm really liking the FRS.1 now, I have no idea why I wasn't fond of her in the beginning!

Pitot tube installed and canopy paint retouched.
I'm now at the point where I start to debate whether adding a few tiny details is worth the risk of ruining the model.
