OT's GR.1 *** Finished ***
Sprue shots etc.
This will be a straight OOB build and I don't expect to get much done in the first week as I am on holiday.
I must say the details look very nice:
The kit and a few modelling supplies will be stashed in the back of the car tonight! Oh how SWAMBO will laugh.

Re: OT's GR.1
No pics yet as we have no mobile phone signal or wifi at the holiday cottage (kids are going stir crazy!). Plenty of cubbyholes for guerrilla modelling though. I've just snook over to the neighbour's cottage as they have tinternet access.
Splash is not wrong about this kit, just falls together even with minimum model tools to hand. So far I have painted & decayed the cockpit tub, closed up the fuselage and assembled the wings.
Next stage is to attach the wings, dry fitting suggests no problem. Very blitz-able kit me thinks.
I will try to get some pics on my phone then hopefully next time we are near a hot spot they should upload to Photobucket automatically. There is supposed to be a pub about a mile away with wifi but I haven't found it yet. The cloud is so low I can't see any land marks. Do you think SWAMBO would notice if I went on a recon mission?

A recon is absolutely necessary.
As is checking out that local tavern. You need to try the local brew. Find out if its palatable.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Here are a couple of shots of the work I completed whilst away.
More to follow once I get a couple of Spitfires off the workbench.

Re: OT's GR.1
Looking very smart OT, and I'm glad you are safely back from your holiday without having suffered too much trauma for taking a kit along as well!
Best wishes
Jim

Re: OT's GR.1
Thanks Iggie. I think she would have been surprised if I hadn't taken anything with me. As it was BT let us down so we had no internet or TV for a week. Anyway, the Harrier now has some colour.
The chances of that pitot tube staying on until completion are very slim! I will mask off the camo pattern tonight and hopefully get some grey on before going to the pub.

I know what you mean. I can see the refuelling pipe getting knocked off mine. I might cut it off and re attach later.Old_Tonto wrote:

Yours is coming along leaps and bounds. I daren't take mine on holiday as too much beer is consumed and I might end up adding an extra wing and rigging it

Re: OT's GR.1
A bit more progress made on this one. Apologies for the image quality - new phone!
I started marking out the camo scheme with rolls of white-tak but got bored and did the rest free hand.
It was at this point that I realised the green was far too dark. My fault for trying to use the paints I had rather than buying the correct colours.
So I brushed on some Tamiya XF-81 which looks a little light but I'm sure it will darken with a coat of Klear. I think it is a better match than the Humbrol rattle can.
I will give her a coat of Klear tonight and see how it looks. If it is OK I will mask off and paint the underside.
Better start working on the load out & U\C too.
