Very nice, James!
Love the scale effect with the other two models - it almost looks like a photograph!

Re: James' revisits a Sea Harrier
Probably final update before the deadline from me as I'm out with the family all tomorrow. Not much has happened until this evening as I've suddenly become my daughters favourite for putting her to bed.
I finished painting the pilot and install him in the cockpit after losing his lower legs. Added some tape straps and shoved a bit a stretch sprue between his legs for a stick, which I subsequently forgot to paint before adding the canopy.
Canopy is a great fit and will only need a smidge of filler to blend in the front edge of the windscreen.
The build phase if almost over and is by far my favourite part of kit building I do enjoy adding my own details and this kit is a nice blank canvas on which to work.

That pilot looks great.

Great additions and detail work as usual James.

Looking so great James.

Lovely work. How did you do those scoops behind the cockpit so neatly?

Thanks Dave, the scoops were just sliced off some plastic tube.dwomby wrote:Lovely work. How did you do those scoops behind the cockpit so neatly?
There was one more detail to add to the fuselage, namely the fairing for the windscreen wiper. This again utilizes some think foil. It slightly over laps the screen so I did it after masking.
The kit pitot tube is pretty good and represents the three diameters correctly but removing the seam lines left is looking a bit ragged, so I decided to replace it with brass. Two diameter of tubing one fits perfectly in the other and wire from a wine bottle proved to fit in the smallest perfectly to make the tip.
I've mount up all the pieces ready for a coat of primer. I often superglue the cocktail sticks to joining faces on the parts if the is not suitable holes or place to grip.

Re: James revisits a Sea Harrier
I had an hour free before going out on Wednesday night so thought I'd try and get a coat of primer on with my new mini spray gun. Bad idea I should have spent the time practicing and getting it set up correctly. Instead I got my air and paint ratios completely the wrong way round and have pebble dashed the Harrier. Going to take quite some work getting it rubbed down to something usuable so may consider stripping it instead. GRRRR!

But its authentic - pebble-dashing was all the rage in the Eighties.....

Oh dear. Frustrating but good luck cleaning it off or smoothing it down. Is it an acrylic or enamel primer?

Tough break.....but looking on the plus side it's a valuable learning experience
Best wishes

Re: James revisits a Sea Harrier
It's Alcad Grey primer. I will have to do a test to see if Mr Muscle ovencleaner will shift it.
