Toby's Italeri Sea Harrier FRS-1 FINISHED
After my first attempt met an obstacle or two I went looking for the Airfix First and Last Harrier combo. On searching for that I found in my stash the 30th ANNIVERSARY FALKLANDS WAR 1982_2012 COLLECTION in which lurks a Sea Harrier so I'll be doing that instead. On first inspection all the parts seem to be there so that's one obstacle out of the way
Not the newest of kits, I believe it's an Esci repop, but reading up it appears to be quite a good one.

Re: Toby's Italeri Sea Harrier FRS-1
I can't really do too much as I'm waiting for some aftermarket cockpit detailing so I'm just going to assemble various parts and paint what I can. I notice that the nozzles are gun metal so they'll go on after I've sprayed the airframe along with a few other bits and bobs.
Progress so far isn't a lot but the complete absence of another wing and rigging means I'm certain I can get this finished by the end of the GB which is just as well as I'm off to the Dales for a few days after that to drink copious amounts of Black Sheep and Timothy Taylor's Landlord bitter..

Nice to see the start of another FRS.1 .
I should think by now we have more FRS.1's being built than what's left in reality!

Can someone tell does the AIM9D Sidewinder look outwardly any different to the AIM9L Sidewinder used in the Falklands?

The L/M models are slightly longer and have larger front fins. There are some profiles here:TobyC wrote:Maverick231 wrote:Nice to see the start of another FRS.1 .

As it happens I've just unearthed a Hasegawa weapons kit and it includes lots of Sidewinders of various marques. Thought I'd lost it...the box that is

Re: Toby's Italeri Sea Harrier FRS-1
Give the nozzles a check for fit before leaving them to the end; I had a bit of a struggle with my Airfix ones!
I hope you have a good time in the dales and that the weather behaves for you!

Re: Toby's Italeri Sea Harrier FRS-1
Thanks iggie I'll pay extra double attention to them. I'm going to assemble most of the fuselage and wings before doing the cockpit as I can't do much there until the a/m stuff turns up. I've remembered to fit the airbrake before closing up. I'll also add some weight to the nose just in case.

Thanks. Trouble is once the fuselage is closed up most of it won't be visible
