Sign-up and Chat

A simple GB, convert one thing to another - any subject, any scale, any era, any method, but ending up with a different variant, than what the bits provide for in the box.
GB runs 16th April to 29th May and your host is Martin R.

That's fine, PT. My post was a bit after the event.

There's some really good work going on. I urge all to drop in on others' threads and leave a comment if you so wish.

I recognise that with such an eclectic range of subjects, one may have little intrinsic interest in some of the build subjects, but the techniques on display are awesome!

Well, I had thought my XB-52 conversion from Lonestar Models would have arrived by now. Since I ordered it back in December. So, it's back to my fall back plans and see if either or both are acceptable:

First, convert a Hasegawa TBM-3 into a TBM-3S flown by VS-21 from NAS San Diego 1950.
or
Second, use the new OWL conversion, coming in from Hannants, to turn my Italeri Ju-52 into a pre-war bomber version 1938.
On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

Well, I've got maybe six original parts, 4 heavily modified -- far less than other parts and evergreen stock, so I'd say the bar is pretty low ...

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

PT

Please PM me with your cunning plan. Is it as cunning as a fox with a degree in cunning from the University of Cambridge?

Martin, As I'm enjoying my Buccaneer build so much I'd like to do another :-D Its not so much of a conversion though as its converting a base Airfix S.2B in to a S.2D equipped with the reconnaissance belly pack and long range tanks - which you can't do from the kit as is. Does it qualify to be included in the GB or shall I just build it alongside and not document?

Alas, like the best laid plans of mice and man, mine have indeed gang agley
I had a couple of spare 1/16 faces and a hand left over from the Musketeer and Guardsman, then I spotted that The Works were selling those wee poseable artists mannequins at two quid a pop. The size looked right in the shop, but once I had bought one and tried the face against it, the mannequin looks to be about 1/12
The figure I had planned was just a bit of fun, not something I'd fork out 15 quid between kit and bulking out filler on.

Tom,

If you can't make it out of the box, it's fine. Also, you deserve something easier than your other build.

By my reckoning, yesterday was 4 weeks in, so just under a fortnight to go. How are we all doing?
