Marky's SC.9 ***FINISHED***

A simple GB, convert one thing to another - any subject, any scale, any era, any method, but ending up with a different variant, than what the bits provide for in the box.
GB runs 16th April to 29th May and your host is Martin R.

You only had to ask we would have confirmed it :-D
Aaahh, poor Thistle. I'll stick up for you!. :ha: I felt three part painting would be neater than trying to line up tape either side of the big wing that would sit in the way!. If I'd have attached the wings before painting the red line particularly would have been higher in front than behind!.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

I think you did it the right way, it made total sense to paint the body and wings separately.

Thanks!, I'm better at stripes if there's nothing in the way, such as a wing, I even left off the tailplanes!. Should be able to attach everything this week.
P.S. That reminds me, have I actually built the horizontal tailplanes????

Further to my above post, I think I've done the red stripe too high. It should be more towards the bottom of the wing root rather than the top, it's why the stripe bends down so much at the nose!. Oh well, definitely not changing it now!!.
Progress has been good, and if I do say so myself I am really pleased with this so far, it's looking good, my history of being rubbish with white seems to have taken a break and it is a good kit to build.
Pic.

The really irritating thing is that while putting the decals on the left side, the completed right side touched some Tamiya tape bits stuck to the side of the desk (I was resting the fuselage on my lap), and it ripped off the 'Royal Aircraft Establishment' title and the fin flash. Although I had a spare fin flash it does not have the white outline. Plus I don't have any more RAE titles. So all pics from now on will probably be from the left side!!
She's just had her u/c legs put on so until they set I don't know if the resin nose is enough to keep her on her nose wheel!.

Turns out I hadn't even cut the parts from the sprue!!. They are all done now and attached. As is probably obvious from the previous photos!!.
Wheels are being painted, antennae/aerials to be attached and painted and then she's done.

Not much more to see but the wing tip tanks are on, of course while holding these in place with tape, the tape pulled off the XH of the serial number. Grrrrr. Luckily it's something I can paint on. Got to learn to keep tape away from this one!!

Got to put the wingtip lights on too!. Really easy conversion set to use (It only has five parts and I didn't use two of them!), except the wing tip tanks have locating pins that don't match the single one of the kit. I trimmed them both off and super-glued them straight on!.

That's an excellent build Mark; an unusual subject, some great modelling and a super paint job!
Best wishes

Lovely build but I can't say you've done the Canberra's aesthetics any good.
