PT changes the guard **FINISHED**

A simple GB, convert one thing to another - any subject, any scale, any era, any method, but ending up with a different variant, than what the bits provide for in the box.
GB runs 16th April to 29th May and your host is Martin R.

Just amazing to me what you can do with figures, PT. How did you do the white decoration on the poncho? Hand painted?

Many thanks for the kind words guys, this has been a funny old build. The conversion was not that drastic really, there were largish areas that were altered, giving the impression of a major redo, but they were really just alterations. The kit itself, being hollow, was more of a challenge as it required me to make a kind of sprue and blu tack 'skeleton' to attach the body parts to.

Cheers David, I'll gladly take the kudos whilst worrying that other, more talented, guys will realise that figure converting is not as tricky as it looks. :-D Most of the things that I do are just variations of tips that I picked up from an old '70s Airfix annual article on 'Bringing the 54mm Scots Greys figure to life'.
I had intended to do the pattern on the poncho with Microscale white lines decals (and did start to, but they were about 20 years old and had lost some adhesion. In addition, I had added chalk dust to the Khaki paint used for the poncho to give it a texture which did not help! ) but decided that making up that pattern using 3-6mm strips of unco-operative decals was a ticket to madness!

I love how the collar become the neckerchief. Excellent but can be have some large, better lit pictures.

I'll see what I can do about better lit photos James. I'm thinking of doing more work on the rifle before posting the glamour shots anyway. I scaled down a profile photo of the rifle and used it as a template, but I keep feeling that it looks too large in the photos. The weird thing is, it seems ok in real life :???:

Cheers Splash, it's a huge buzz to get such high praise from a bunch of guys whose work has left me open mouthed in admiration. A lot of the wee tricks I'm using now have been learned or adapted from things that I've seen done on this site.

The Mini Art figures come with a spare face in each, and it seems such a waste not to use them.
Maybe if I get another two of these figures I could use the four 'spare' faces to do a Bohemian Rhapsody thing!

......or I could do a faceless Yul Brynner robot in Westworld, then I would have the four faces by only buying one more Guardsman :-D

Sorry if this is rambling, but a lot of the comments that I get are about how do I get the ideas or see the possibilities....I thought it might be revealing to let my 'Stream of consciousness' show
