Lancfan's Centurion AVRE ** DNF**
I decided to begin a new subject theme for this GB with a Gulf War Centurion AVRE using the 1/76 scale Airfix kit and to make things a little more interesting I picked the sole type 4 poly bagged kit from the stash for this. upon opening the bag (I am certain this has not been opened since leaving the factory) I found that an important piece was missing, part 20 the hull bottom, this kit also suffered from a malady which has with the passage of time effected these early AFV kits- the tracks have melted certain parts which they touched in the bag.
Enter this second kit as a source of parts- this is not the waste that it may at first seem to be as spare parts could be quite useful when converting future Centurion models.
David.

Nice. I love the way the kit moves seamlessly from OO scale to 1/72 over time

I believe they got into bother over this and had to change all the armour kit boxes back to 1/76.

Yes, they did go back to 1/76 didn't they? Always wondered why!lancfan wrote:I believe they got into bother over this and had to change all the armour kit boxes back to 1/76.

This will be fun to watch. Will it have lots of reactive armour and a dozer blade?
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Re: Lancfan's Centurion AVRE
The lower hull parts were first lengthened by 2mm and then the parts were assembled.

Re: Lancfan's Centurion AVRE
Why the 2mm extension was the original kit wrong or was AVRE longer?

The kit was wrong Alan, there are a few corrections needed to put things right.

Am watching this project with interest. I have this kit and often wonder a)what on earth was I thinking and b)won't some manufacturer please step up and do this subject some real justice?
