Chuck's original BUFF, converting B-52D into XB-52 *Finished

A simple GB, convert one thing to another - any subject, any scale, any era, any method, but ending up with a different variant, than what the bits provide for in the box.
GB runs 16th April to 29th May and your host is Martin R.

The fuselage has been assembled with the new front and rear sections added. Due to some nice gaps, a dose of Squadron Green Putty is added and will be sanded with other seams filled end tomorrow. After watching SAC and reviewing other reference material, I went with interior green for the cockpit and bronze green for the ejection seats. I have a set of stencils and national insignia coming in from Warbird decals and have decided on cutting decal paper to the correct width, painting it aluminum, and using that for canopy framing.

The basic build is complete. A gap in the wing root and the holes for the drop tanks has been filled in with green putty. Once, I finish sanding everything that need sanding, I plan on priming the putty and bare resin places followed by painting the initial gloss black undercoat. After that, various shades of Al-Clad will be painted to simulate the various metallic shades on the real aircraft.

Thanks. I believe the following pictures show the table to be long enough. Although, barely. :P

Wow! Beginning to look like a Buff. Although without the wings, it looked more like something out of "Wacky Races". :-)

Thanks, but you had to mention Wacky Races. Now, I have that recent episode of Southpark that featured the Wacky Race stuck in my head. Thanks. :P

But, the kit has places in the wings and fuselage to attach string and hang it from the ceiling. Monogram was way ahead of you when they first released the kit in 1968.

That's looking very good.
From the photos, it seems you've got it all aligned, no warps or twists in the long fuselage & wings.

An undercoat of gloss black followed by an initial coat of Alclad Aluminum was applied this weekend. I expect my B-52 stencils to arrive from Warbird decals and plan on adding different metallic shades in the next day or so.
