OT Tries not to kill an Albatross *** Finished ***

Post by Old_Tonto »

My entry for this group build will be this rather nice Eduard L39C Albatros finished in the colours of the LSK ( Luftstreitkräfte der Nationalen Volksarmee). East Germany to you and me.

This will be an OOB build except for the decals which are from my spares stash.

Hopefully it should end up looking something like this:

Thats the plan anyway.

That is a beautiful aircraft. We have a few in private hands over here and I see one from time to time.

Good luck with the build.

I was fortunate to fly a UK civilian registered L39C a few years ago. Lovely little aircraft and surprisingly similar to the Hawk in many ways.

I was expecting to see something with two wings and rigging so it was a very pleasant surprise to see a slighter faster version. Nice choice.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

I've been eyeing one of these up for quite a while, will watch how you get on with it before parting with the doubloons.

Sorry for the lack of progress. Life is busy at the moment so any bench time has been spent of the conversion GB.

I have made a start with the interior though so will upload some pictures later. Fit looks spot on so I'm hoping that thing will move quickly once the office area is done.

Instructions, yes I should probably take a look at them. Hang on.

My instructions say 'Dark Yellow' but I assume that would be a yellow chromite paint so went with Tamiya XF-4 Yellow Green. I'm pretty sure it won't be visible once things are closed up anyway. For the interior I used Tamiya XF-23 light blue based on this image.

Got the wings attached yesterday but it took quite a bit of sanding as it was tight.

I can crack on with this now that I have finished my SAAF Cheetah. 8-)
