Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Being a Matchbox kit, progress is quite rapid.

That's looking good Andrew - I have this kit in the stash (along with the Aifix one) so will be following with interest.

If you need any decals (if the kit ones aren't up to snuff) let me know - I have the Airfix kit decals and the xtradecal Strikemaster sheet and I'm not planning on doing the RNZAF aircraft.
Stuart Templeton I may not be good but I'm slow...

Thanks. The decals look okay, at least on the sheet! This is one of the original Made In England releases, and I think decal quality was okay. Some of the later pressings have very indifferent decals.

I pulled the port wing off and reset it, as I wasn't happy with the dihedral.

The port wing gap is full of CA gel, so it's not as bad as it looks on the photos.

There's a bit of filler round the intakes, but nothing too serious.

Some grey paint on the seams to look for nasty bits.

Image

Not too bad, as it turns out. Unfortunately my plastic putty supply is very low, so I may have to go out and get some more!

Image

The seats have had a base coat of dark sea grey and are ready for detail painting.

It's moving along!

I have primed it, and painted the undersides grey. The first coat of tan (which Vallejo Air calls USAF Brown) has just gone on.

Andrew, I've been away 3 days and you're finished yet?

Just kidding. This is a great demo of how good those Mbox kits can look when they're done.

There will be a bit of a delay, as I've run out of silly putty for masking!
