Re: Andrew's Kiwi Strikemaster
Is your 'silly putty' a version of what we call 'blutac'; an adhesive putty?
When I was small 'silly putty' was a stretchy mouldable putty which could bounce but not stick anything.

Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

No, it's the latter. It has a very small amount of tack, just enough to keep it on the model, but much less than any blutack material. It also peels off without leaving a residue, which some blutacks do.fredk wrote:Is your 'silly putty' a version of what we call 'blutac'; an adhesive putty?

So what's your preferred brand of 'silly' putty, Andrew?

Re: Andrew's Kiwi Strikemaster
And after spraying with Camouflage Green, we have the grand unveiling unputtying.
Not bad. There's one tiny bit that might need a bit of work, but overall, quite good.

Looking good, I've still not mastered masking for 3 camo.

I just added more silly putty as a second layer and then sprayed the camo green. It worked quite well.shangos70 wrote:Looking good, I've still not mastered masking for 3 camo.

The ejector seats are preventing the canopy from sitting right. Things will need to be done...

Re: Andrew's Kiwi Strikemaster
But first, some decals. There aren't that many. The Strikemaster seems to have had few stencils visible. This makes things much quicker.
The original Matchbox decals worked well, but did need fairly hot water to get them off the backing sheet..
The decals for ejector seat triangles and rescue arrows were out of register and have been replaced from the spares box.

Looks great. And you can't buy your Silly Putty in the NCR?

Yes, but I have to go to a shopping mall, which I try and avoid like the plague. As I was ordering other stuff on Amazon, it's an easy optiondwomby wrote:Looks great. And you can't buy your Silly Putty in the NCR?
