Thanks Sir T :grin: I'm still trying to uncross my eyes at the moment though :shock: maybe 1/350th ships would have been an easier genre change to try.

Yep....1/700 PE liferings, each one approximately 1mm across. 4 different types on the etch sheet to cover most nations as well as civilian and military use.

There is now no hope for me :ha:

Excellent work Tom, that is really coming to life and those tiny life rings are bonkers but great additions :-D

Cheers guys :-D nowt to show this week as yet, worked 8 out of the last 9 days and the one day I wasn't at work I was at the North Devon show with the CC SiG display (Where I'm proud to say my big Revell Hunter took Silver in the Aircraft competition category :-D ). However I've got a three day weekend coming up and depending on the weather - because the garden needs some attention - I hope to make a big dent in the railing work.

Fingers crossed!

Time for an update on my floaty boaty project. The main hull has been shaded, Kleared and decalled:

And a bit more P/E work on the mainmast:

Can't get over how long this build is taking, this update is the product of a full afternoons work :shock:

Ships do tend to take a bit longer than aircraft but this is looking terrific Tom. I particularly like the way the wash brings out the details. 8-)

Excellent work Tom, that is a great looking vessel and the model has been nicely enhanced by the additional work that you have put into it. Top stuff 8-)

Its been a quiet few weeks on the modelling front thanks to various 'real life' pressures but I have made some small progress on the Kalinin:

Started the railings;

Image

Fitted the main radar array to the foremast;

Image

Drybrushed a lighter grey onto the main hull to ease the starkness of the wash and to tone down the hull markings;

Image

Finally this is just a gratuitous shot to show off that imposing presence :-D ;

Image

Slow and steady but the endgame is fast approaching ;-)
