Re: Stuart's Cold War Build Thread
Progress is slow but I have gloss coated it (Humbrol gloss cote heavily thinned with enamel thinners) and am now working on the decals - which is always a favourite task of mine - they really start to bring the subject to life.
Decals are from the kit and are very nice. I only ever use hot water on mine and that's what these have been done with - I might bed these down with another local gloss coat before I work on the smaller ones.
Cheers
Stuart

Thanks Darryl!
The Mig-27 is also now back on the bench...
Need to crack on fitting the cockpit.

Re: Stuart's Cold War Build Thread
The SuE is starting to come to life now the decals are going on Stuart. I recall building the Hase Flogger C (at least I think it was a C ) a good few years ago and it wasn't a bad kit from what I remember.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Thanks Shaun - hopefully more decals tomorrow.
The Flogger is indeed a nice kit - I just wish I hadn't started with the whole resin cockpit idea!

Re: Stuart's Cold War Build Thread
I've got a little collection of resin replacement cockpit interiors in the stash, including ones from Noemega and, I think, True Details and I've yet to use one. All of my sets are in 1/48th and I've been building in the gentleman's scale for the past few years. From what I've read when using resin cockpit sets, one of the main challenges often faced is thinning out either the resin of the set, or the plastic walls of the kit cockpit, or both, to get everything to fit. Sounds like a laugh

Re: Stuart's Cold War Build Thread
Yeah don't bother!
Well ok, in 1/48th maybe, as I suppose bigger needs more detail? But I don't think I shall again unless it's a drop in replacement.

Re: Stuart's Cold War Build Thread
More progress on the Etendard - still on the decals - but only 5 left to do!
Now given my slow build pace I'm worried that I may have over committed myself build wise. Once the Spitfire GB is over I'm planning on using most of my build time for Telford, BUT it might be an idea to prioritise.
This is what I'm down for
Mig-27
SU-27
Tornado GR.1
F/A-18A
Challenger I
F-5A
Darryl as the boss - what you like to see on the table in order of preference assuming I can't do them all?
Cheers

Almost as you have them Stu with one minor alteration, so....
SU-27
Mig-27
Tornado GR.1
F/A-18A
Challenger I
F-5A
I know how you feel about over-commitment. I'm going to have to extract my own digit although, as I'm suddenly out of work, a great deal of time has opened up.

Ok Darryl - no problem, I had a feeling it'd be in that order - the Flanker will be on the bench ASAP.Dazzled wrote:Sir T wrote:More progress on the Etendard - still on the decals - but only 5 left to do!

It's a long story that involves an industrial injury cover up and a likely court case. I'm the injured party. Nice employers I had, eh?

Re: Stuart's Cold War Build Thread
Cheers guys. Let's not worry about it though. I hated working there and it was making me depressed. Now I'm much happier, my modelling mojo is returning, I'm looking at starting my own business and Mrs Dazzled has just been promoted.
Now let's get back to the model making
