Mav's SMW19 Builds
After SMW16 was done I began putting together a list of suitable kits which I could possibly do for SMW17.
One of which was the Sukhoi SU-7 Fitter.
Falcon gave me this kit at the 2015 Huddersfield Show and ever since then I have been "building" ;-)see what I did there up the courage to try and give this kit a run for its money as the fuselage sections don't have and guide pins and is without the cutting out a vac form kit.
I really wish I had given it a go before as it went together really nicely with not as much hassle going together as I thought.
Anyway onto the pics.
In my opinion plenty of nose weight was needed as the area available for the weight wasn't that far in front of the main gear.
The internal engine parts, cockpit and air intake have been glued into place.
There is a lack of detail on the instrument panel but a slight mod on the Tornado decal soon sorted that one out.
Although probably not accurate I'm quite happy with the result.
I've managed to button the fuselage up and with a slight bit of liquid green stuff and sanding I think she'll come out looking alright.
Thanks for watching folks.
C&c welcome as always.

Nice, and fits in right at the end of the 1950s

Thanks Daz.
I'm planning on building her as a pair of Soviets from the late fifties along with the TU-16 Badger:
I've had a session with the Liquid Green Stuff on the Sukhoi SU-7BKL Fitter and given the TU-16 a good all over clean as she's not been touched for a while - No pun intended.

Hahahaha sorry I couldn't help but laugh at that Daz!
I'm not sure when it will be but I do plan on putting some liquid green stuff onto the Tu-16 soon and sanding down the SU-7.
Keep an eye out in the next few days.

Re: Mav's SMW 2017 Builds
I have been doing a little work on the two Ruskies tonight.
I think Russian's like the green stuff!
The Fitter has had its fuselage sanded down, wings glued on and green stuff added to fill the wing joins and the Badger has had filler put onto its fuselage joins.
I know there are other places on the badger that will need filling but I'm taking my time and doing it bit by bit.
Now its time to finish my kebab and head to bed as tomorrow were heading to our new home to carry on decorating!

Nice work so far. How long is that pitot on the Fitter going to survive?

Haha that's exactly what me and my Mrs were talking about last night!
I know something will happen to it but the 2 pitot tubes at the front of the wings both sides of the fuselage are more of a concern as every time I work on her they end up bent and nearly broken.

Re: Mav's SMW 2017 Builds
In between prepping the new house I managed to get an hour or so in last night and managed to sand down all the filler on both models.
I took the plunge and removed the 2 pitot tubes on the wings next to the fuselage, when she's ready for paint il drill and replace them with copper tube as that won't break off as easy.
Hopefully tomorrow il be able to do a tad more work on getting the wings and horizontal stabilisers completed on the Badger and the horizontal stabilisers on the Fitter A.

Re: Mav's SMW 2017 Builds
After a wgile off modelling moving house work on the Fitter last night.
Finished off the paint work, the gear and doors have been finished, decals are on and clear parts are on too.
I did try and have "07" but the decals broke up in the solution so I could only use "7".
I alao had a session in the paint shop.
Masking off the open holes with tissue and bits of tape really does the job!
Low tech with max results!
When the TU-16 Badger is complete she will be the first big build I've ever completed next I line to the MiG-31!
Here is a shot taken earlier:

Re: Mav's SMW 2017 Builds
Thanks mate, yeah the move went well considering Sal is now heavily pregnant!
Ok so last night and this morning g I got to work painting the underwing mounted cruise missiles and they are huge!
Her is one Sat next to a Hawk just to show how big they are:
And here they are painted:
I also got the wheels painted silver so whilst I'm waiting for the paints for my Blitzbau build I'll do some more work getting the 16 finished and so tonight I will post updated pics of her.

She's nearly there!
The gear and wheels were finished and glued and all antenna glued too, now all that needs to be done is finish painting the antenna, decals, put the 2 Cruise Missiles Un and finish off with a layer of klear:

That's a really smart looking build Mav - Nice work! It looks pretty good with those blooming great cruise missiles under the wings.
Stuart Templeton I may not be good but I'm slow...
