Hi
Has anyone built the trumpeter IL 28 beagle,in 1/72?

Not yet but I have one in the stash. I believe Falcon has built one.

Got one part done, far better than the Italeri/Bilek offering but still VERY early Trumpeter so fit is not the best but it is certainly more detailed. May have to see if I can finish it for Telford

Just dipped the canopies in Klear, that of course doesn't mean I'm going to get round to starting, not with the speed I go. A quick check of the instructions has got me a bit puzzled about the rear gun position as both options (at first glance ) look the same.

Looking at mine, it seems that the base kit is moulded as a Harbin H-5 which used an in house rear turret instead of the Soviet built one. To make it into an Il-28 you have to cut off the rear portion as shown on the instructions and add the supplied parts to give a Soviet turret. There is a difference in shape between the two with the Chinese turret having a flat bottom resting on a fairing while the Soviet turret is more of a sphere. Earlier H-5's (actually imported Il-28's) though had the Soviet turret, just to be confusing.

Thanks for those Kitaholic, I too have a Trumpeter Il-28 & that info will be useful come the day.
