Re: Display Progress
Picked up the materials for the backboard yesterday. It should turn out as 12 inches tall and run the full length of the display. I've also formulated an idea for how to decorate it, kind of a concrete wall theme with graffiti

Re: Display Progress
Thanks Adam.
This afternoon, after work, I constructed the backboards.
They're each 4' long and just over 1' high. I got lucky with the materials when a friend at work recommended a timber merchant/DIY shop near where we work. Not only did the material cost less than half the price of a large DIY store but they did most of the cutting for me
You don't see too many shops like that these days and I think I'll be a returning customer.
For my part I put a slot in the base members using my table saw, built up the rear frame using wood screws, then attached the pre-cut white faced hardboard sheets using instant grab adhesive.
Now all I have to do is decorate them.
And clean my bike

Re: Display Progress
A whole day off today and a few things to do. Typical run up to Telford really.
I've spent my day flitting between housework, bashing my Tu-22M together and decorating the backboards. And the backboards.....
This is the centre one. The outer two are similar but with no writing.
I still have to cover up the timber at the base, probably using fine wet and dry paper to look like tarmac, and construct some hang-over shelves to support the model subs but, all in all, I'm pleased with todays progress.

Just catching up (now I am back home) with what's been happening over past few days. Your backing boards and artwork look good.

Re: Display Progress
Falcon has the metal sign. We decided to have 2 sets of display equipment between us so we could have the potential to cover more shows.

Re: Display Progress
If you bring the missile set to Telford I'll find a way to get it back to Chris.

Re: Display Progress
Well that's it guys. I've done all I wanted to do for the display and we're in the process of packing the car ready to leave for Telford.
See you there

Re: Display Progress
Looks good.
As it happens I will be at the show tomorrow, but only as a punter and travelling light.
