2017 SMW Builds, Early Cold War

Post by Dazzled »

This is a general thread for us to post our completed builds for the SIG display at SMW 2017. Any in progress builds can be added to the Cold War Builds section where I suggest we each start a new personal 2017 build thread. The theme is Early Cold War. This is loosely the first decade although I have no issues with any relevant subject up to the end of 1959. If anybody would like to concentrate on a particular area or subject (eg Korean War, Berlin Airlift, Soviet fighters) that's fine.

So, best get building. There's less than 12 months to go ;-)

Il follow Craig with my proposed builds.
I plan on building an SU-7, MiG-19 and the B-47.
I'm also hoping to get and build more but who knows yet.

Sounds great Craig although I do already have a built Special Hobby J-21A that makes the display tables on occasion. Anything else you'd like to build will be welcome. I can see a theme or 2 within the display already developing. 8-)

Soviet fighters and US bombers should make neat sub-displays. We always field a few Mig-15s and a Mig-9. :)

If you have Mig-15's you've got to have a Sabre for an early CW display!

Do you/we have any? (if not what scale are the -15's?) It might be a nice display to have them nose to nose? With info boards Maybe?

Cheers

We have a few Mig-15s in 1/72 plus my 1/48 Korean War example. I've got an idea that the latter might be good in a KW sub theme alongside Chris' s Chinese SPG and a few others.

Anybody fancy building a MASH dio? ;-)

I have an F-86 Sabre if that's any good?
I could build that and the MiG-15 together.
