chrism wrote:What type of razor saw are you using? Only ask as the one I use (JLC) was not cheap and for some things, like getting resin casting blocks off, the blade is really fine and it is superb, yet give it a hull to chew on and it gets all upset and tends not to like to play! It is almost as if I need one that is a lot rougher and coarser!
I use one of these, the blades have two edges one slightly coarser than the other.

I'm currently in a round of filler, sand, filler , sand cycle, trying to sort out the area left after removing the bulges. Once that's sorted I will look at adding the two extra guns either side.

Have a look at your blades, I find the very fine edge makes hard work of cutting plastic but the coarser edge works great.

In this image the coarser edge is at the top the much finer edge at the bottom, the finer tooth size looks to be about 1/2 the size or even finer

Here is what she now looks after her tummy tuck :-D

Looking at the photo I think it might need one more round of light filler sanding. :frown:

She is looking sweet.
A few rounds of sand and fill seems to be the norm with everyone in this GB

As for the saw - thanks for the tips, and I shall have another go with the rougher blade on some plastic. I had been tending to use the finer one in the belief it would give a neater cut

Excellent result. Did you cast the guns yourself?

No I'm not that clever, when I won the kit on eBay it came with two kits and a wooden deck.

So I now have a wooden deck for the later version and a kit with four missing guns :-D

Sorry this is a big DNF, life and too much fun building my HMS Plymouth got in the way, I will continue the build in the CBK 2016 thread.

I've struggled with an OOB build plus a few handrails so to carry out the depth of surgery as you have in the same period is a daunting prospect! It'll be great to see it being finished elsewhere on the forum
Best wishes
