Cheers, guys!

Made up the PE crane tonight - it's quite a complicated fold sequence and I didn't quite get it right as it looks a little twisted. Curiously, it also doesn't fit the part it is supposed to fit onto, but then the part it is supposed to fit onto doesn't look like the part shown on the construction diagram!

I keep looking at the instruction sheets for the kit and the PE and the part number callouts are not the same. I suspect Frog must have changed the part numbers at some point; my kit is an original early 60s boxing.

I'm also finding jumping between the PE instructions and the kit instructions a bit of a challenge. :omg

Been fiddling about with more of the PE this morning - there are LOTS of inconsistencies between the PE and kit instructions. I'll have to check photo references as I go and bodge it.

Slow going today, but I did get some more bridge reconstruction done, as well as some work at the back end. Fore and aft superstructures are not glued in place, but, as you can see, the fit is pretty darned good.

Here's the boat crane, dry-fit to it's final position. It will be surrounded by boats. Naturally...

The bridge is starting to look much more imposing with the extra plating on it. :)

The PE and the plating around the bridge has made a big difference.

What make is the PE?
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Excellent work with this oldie Paul and I can see that it needs it! The PE additions are well worth the effort and should really enhance the finished model.

Cheers, guys!

I'll be leaving for a short holiday tomorrow night, so I'll try to squeeze in a little bench time tonight before I hang up the tools for a week.

OK, so I finally got some bench time following my week's vacation, and the start of ten-hour work days for the summer....

Before I go any further, I need to deal with waterlining this model. The boot-topping of this ship was quite wide, and is very clearly marked on the hull parts. The lower line of the boot-topping marks the normal waterline, so I repeatedly scribed along that line, but not enough to break through at the moment. With the lower hull removed, the remaining hull sides will be quite flimsy, so I have added some cross braces of sprue:

Once these have set, I'll add the main deck and remove the lower hull.

I have Friday off, plus the weekend, so I'm hoping to make up some of my lost time.
