HMS Hotspur (H01) at Crete *DNF* -> Ship Forum
This will be a mostly OOB build of the Airfix 1/600 Hotspur kit.
This is one of several projects I am doing for the CBK SIG display at SMW 2016.
I say mostly OOB as the aft torpedo tube mount was replaced by a 12-pdr AA and I have the White Ensign RN DD 1 & 2 photoetch sets, made for the Airfix 1/600 WW2 destroyer series.
I have found this camo pattern for the period, in the Med.

Started today, hull is together & deck on, awaiting clean-up -- some sinkholes around the locator pins/holes..
I've made notes on the kit and the photo-etch instructions of what goes where, etc, so it should move fairly smartly.

Re: HMS Hotspur (H01) at Crete
Real world, details not important, been tough to do anything for past 3 weeks -- but today I got all 3 builds out, sanded the hull joins, and primed them ....
Ready to move along ....
I think it obvious that I won't finish the GB now, but I'll get as far as I can ....

Re: HMS Hotspur (H01) at Crete
I spent time today getting much of the deck stuff on, with a bit of PE - photos later.
However, I have a question. Hotspur had the aft torpedo relplaced by a 3in AA mount - no problem.
So I also deleted the crane (47).
I am assuming that (50) and (51) are directors and I should delete (51) ?
But what are parts (52)+(54) and (53)+(55) ? They aren't for boats, don't appear placed properly for torps, some sort of crane ??? Are they DC-throwers & cranes ?
Also in the top left corner, it would appear that (60)+(67) are depth-charge throwers (or odd-looking racks), then (58)+(59) are cranes, and (56)+(??) are small ready racks ?

Re: HMS Hotspur (H01) at Crete
I did my own research on the DC questions, turned out I had a book
So, back to work.
Most the plastic parts are on, save the props & rudder, so it's time to thing about some paint, and starting the PE.
Need to think about a stand also.

Re: HMS Hotspur (H01) at Crete
Prop shafts & rudder added ... and a temp paint/assembly stand.
Time to check all the deck furniture & photoetch to see what I ought to put on before I do the basic paint job on the hull, deck, and superstructure ...
