I didn't use any release agent but I think it would be a good idea.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Smart work, Alan - and a good example of forward thinking! Must investigate that re-useable mould material....

Re: Splash goes from Torquay to Plymouth
One of the items that I thought might give me problems was the funnel, as it's an oblong shape.
I found a Sea Eagle missile that came with the Airfix Sea Harrier, that was the right thickness and by adding plastic strips on two sides and filling the gaps with super glue, after lots of sanding to shape I finished up with a master that I could try making a mould with and as you can see in the image I think it has worked.

Looking through my scrap box I found an old Airfix sopworth pup thats tail section was not far of the cross section of the mast I was building.

Genius solution for the mast! Also, I've been keenly interested in your mold tutorial. Well done!

NICE. Repurposing bits and bobs is always good. One day I would like a crack at molding parts or even whole subjects.

You should try it, it's not as hard as I thought it would be.gnomemeansgnome wrote:One day I would like a crack at molding parts or even whole subjects.
Due to a crap week at work I have not had much bench time but this will soon change
I had a cunning plan with the mast when I chopped up the Sopworth Pup's fuselarge to make the mast, I filled it with J-B Weld, this paid dividends as you can see I had to thin it down through the pup's skin in to the J-B Weld.
I have now used the master to cast a couple more masts, this will make it easier to thin the mast further and to chop one up for the aft mast.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Re: Splash goes from Torquay to Plymouth
The two resin masts have turned out ok so I can cut down one to make the aft mast.
I had a go at the PE by doing a set of steps and boy was it fiddly, but a good learning aid.

I am finding the same - and it takes so long to do anything in PE!
