VV's Eggcellent pair of Corsairs *DNF*
I will be building two Hasegawa Corsairs - one in 1/72 and one in egg-carton scale
I'll just do them both in the one thread.
Both will be OOB.
Here are the kits:
And the sprue shots:
Identical markings for them both, so they should make a fun pair. One real, one egg-ified.

Does the 1/72 scale kit have raised panel lines??

I checked and it does. Bit of a poor show, that. I won't be remedying it though, as I don't care too much about panel lines, certainly not enough to sand off and rescribe them for this. Pure OOBness on this one.

Not thAt it's an issue the ones on thecHase Birdcage kit are very very fine. I was just wondering if the -D kit was different.
Look forward to seeing it built.
Cheers

Re: VV's Eggcellent pair of Corsairs
I've made a start
Interior green onn the cockpit and wheel wells and other bits and pieces underway so I can close the fuselages up soonish.
The egg plane has no wheel well indents to paint green so I'm debating whether to cut them into the wing or paint out the shape of them or just not bother with them at all.

I'd not bother with them.....
Best wishes

The gloss blue ones often had the wheel bays sprayed blue, so don't worry about it

Re: VV's Eggcellent pair of Corsairs
Hmm.... I did not know that. I'd only be doing it so that the egg plane matches the 72 version as they are both in the same scheme. Tempted to go for the blue in the wheel bays now as that would simplify it a bit. The question is, would that be right for the aircraft I'm building? Is that one they sprayed the bays blue for I wonder?AndrewR wrote:The gloss blue ones often had the wheel bays sprayed blue, so don't worry about it

I'm not necessarily a rivet-counter but to me something like that is a fairly significant departure if I'm modelling a real aircraft.

Here's a useful discussion.

Personally, I'd say that unless you have a photo to work from, you should go with whatever you feel like. There are lots of variations.

Re: VV's Eggcellent pair of Corsairs
Thanks Andrew! It looks from that like blue is actually the more likely colour, so I will repaint wheel wells and gear doors on the 72 version in blue.

I'm on a plane interstate in two days and I haven't progressed past cockpit painting. I'm calling DNF on this
Work completely wiped out any spare time for the last 3 weeks. Ah well. Can't win em all.
