Re: Barry's F4U-2
This is a True Details resin cockpit, bought long ago,
Painted the engine and stuck a few pieces together......There's an airplane already. I've got a good feeling about this one.

These Hasegawa kits slot together very easily. Mine was the same.

Re: Barry's F4U-2
Moving right along: The bugaboo of any kit that mates wings to fuselage in this manner is a step right here.
and trying to minimize that step resulted in a little space opening up here.
Same on the right, plus see the little foot step in the flap that should be filled.
Then, there's this to deal with on both sides
plus a few spots on the leading edge
and, of course, all centerline seams
and this little bit where the lower wing insert butts up against the wing tip.
The wheels have two little ejection pin marks on the inner side which i'm filling with plastic,,,
Like this.

Re: Barry's F4U-2
Good Lord, there's a lot of filling needed on this
Best wishes
Jim

Re: Barry's F4U-2
I managed to get everything reasonably aligned on my Hasegawa Corsair apart from big gaps just in front of the wings. Maybe clipping the wings helped!

Barry,
Love the finish you've got on the resin cockpit. Damn fine painting.
regards,
Martin

Re: Barry's F4U-2
Thanks Martin. The green filler makes it look worse than it really is Iggie ( except for in front of the wing and on the belly).

Smashing build so far.

Re: Barry's F4U-2
So, a little rubbing down gets rid of most of the filler
Doesn't look half bad now.
On the left, the kit stock landing gear, on the right...my efforts to make it a little more authentic.
Likewise with the tail wheel. The -2 had the later, taller tail wheel retroactively fitted. My particular plane wase land based, so the tail hook will come off too.
Getting rid of the fabric effect which Hasegawa incorrectly put on the outermost flap sections.

Re: Barry's F4U-2
well, the little decal sheet has gone for a walkabout before I could get the '201' on the forward landing gear bay door. Hopefully it'll be back one day. Other than that though, it's finished.
