Sure looks sweet in the box. I will probably go with the early war scheme of Blue-Grey.

Man does this kit have detail. I will be reviewing the Squadron/Signal publications F4U in Action and the Walk Around plus the Osprey Modelling the Corsair book.

Worked commenced over the weekend and a little this morning. ZC added to cockpit areas and decals placed on the instrument panel. Personally, I like the decal approach with Tamiya kits. They are designed to fit over the raised detail perfectly and saves time in the construction process.

Weather is cool and rainy today. In other words a good modeling day. So will spend some time detailing the interior and mixing some of GF's Salmon Primer.

Thanks for looking.

Cockpit area gets the dry brush routine. Tamiya detail is so crisp that it just pops out with a little flat white dry brushing.

This is a dry fit of the cockpit and it snaps right it.

Thanks iggie. Here are steps two and three of the instruction sheet.

I started the engine assembly with a coat of Metalizer Aluminum non-buffing lacquer. Next step was a wash of burnt umber to fill on the cylinder louvers. Seems to have done the trick.

In step three, the middle wing section was assembled. Everything fit very well but I needed a tiny spot of filler on the port leading edge. I think I nicked the edge with my knife and had to fill the divot.

Thanks Barry.

The next step is assembling the fuselage halves together and add the mid-wing section. No real issues here. But as I have found in other Tamiya kits, the tolerances are slight and you have to wiggle the pieces a bit for a good fit. Tamiya Surface Primer is used to to back fill the seams. The horizontal stabilizers have a dove tail sort of point so they interlock for a good fit.

And a hello to LH in the Soo.

Another couple of steps done. Landing gear and outer wings. Time to start cleaning up seams and get the sub-assemblies together.

Another step along the way. Mainframe is all together and seams cleaned up.

That looks like its going to be a great model when it's finished, it looks good already. That cockpit is fantastic.

Light grey added to the lower surface now. Weathering has begun with a lighter shade of light grey painted on several panels. Sorry it is hard to see in the photo.
