Previously-built Models

Post by JohnRatzenberger »

Here post 1-2 images of previous builds of GB-subject models. You do not have to be a member of this GB to do so.

If your model has a build thread on UAMF (old or new), then please include the link.

Some excellent builds there Fred and already the bar is set high!

To anyone who might think they won't be able to reach the standards they think others achieve, don't worry as this GB really is about the taking part and enjoyment, and not just about the quality (beauty is in the eye of the beholder don't forget) you might think you will achieve. 8-)
Best wishes

I can't remember what kit this is, but I painted it up to look like one of the aircraft used in the 1948 film Fighter Squadron, where Luftwaffe-painted Mustangs did battle with P-47 Thunderbolts in glorious Technicolor!

Back when I worked for the Planes of Fame Grand Canyon, I built a series of 1/48 P-51 models for a display on the evolution of the Mustang, which sat in a case in front of the museum's airworthy P-51A:

The early P-51 through the C-model were all Accurate Miniatures kits, while the D's were all the very old Revell kit. The P-51H was a conversion of the Revell D, while the P-82 was the awkward Modelcraft kit.

Back in 2013, we had a P-51 Anniversary GB http://uamf.org.uk/viewforum.php?f=244; and my contribution was an Accurate Miniatures P-51C/Mustang III:

Wow, a lot of stunning builds there mate, thanks for sharing. Can I ask if the stand on the reno racer came with the model or did you manage to source them somewhere? Many thanks

Paul - I don't suppose you have any photos of the PoF's P-51A when it appeared in the film "Iron Eagle 3" do you?

Dang it. I was giving some thought to doing that to add it to my collection of film star aircraft (which is still growing!).

I'll just have to settle for screen grabs, then! ;-)
