Marky's Mustang's ***FINISHED***
Marky's Mustang's ***FINISHED***
I have three choices for this GB, having looked at them all there aren't a massive amount of pieces so I might do at least two!, and a third if all goes well!!. Here they are...
I also bought this set sometime back so might use it on the newer Airfix kit..

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Re: Marky's Mustang's
Hi, despite my lack of posting progress it has been happening. Unfortunately my camera hasn't. Been happening that is. It decided to fail me last week and I only managed to get a cheapish replacement yesterday.
P-51B = all built except for the undercarriage which I am adding after all other work, including painting and decaling, has been done. Olive Drab (Hum 66) has been painted on the top and sides. Prop is half painted.
P-51D- Nearly completed, undercarriage to be added as above. Some blue painted on the spinner and the forward nose, as unlike the B this one adds the prop during building. The B only adds the prop base.
Mustang IV- Based on the Airfix new P-51D but with a new prop and under nose part with the intake louvres rather than grills.
I do have the Monogram F-82 in the loft but as this is being taken care of I'll not add any more work load!!.

Great to see you are still progressing even if we're having to use more imagination than perhaps would be normal!
Best wishes

I'm imagining 3 beautiful examples of 1/72 Mustangs with beautifully airbrushed paint work and flawless construction.

Re: Marky's Mustang's
Nice choices. I wonder what the collective term is for them? A neddy?
Enjoyment over accuracy. That's my motto
Re: Marky's Mustang's
You can imagine anything you like, not necessarily will it be true!! , seriously they're not looking too bad but it's interesting to see slight construction changes despite them being both Airfix. The underside air scoop is part of the fuselage on the B but a small separate piece on the D!. I may have mentioned the prop construction differences as well.Gadfly wrote:I'm imagining 3 beautiful examples of 1/72 Mustangs with beautifully airbrushed paint work and flawless construction.
Neigh!!. (one website says wild horses is a herd). But I like neddy better!!.TobyC wrote:Nice choices. I wonder what the collective term is for them? A neddy?

Re: Marky's Mustang's
I'm back in 'have a camera land'. Only a cheap £20 one but is seems capable. Only problem is a shake from the organic compon-- oh wait that's me! .
P-51B
Green (well Olive drab) is on, silver undersides done and white stripes underway on top surfaces, wings and tails.
P-51D
Blue nose has been painted since this pic was taken. The instructions are using M and G paint numbers, G1 is apparently Post Office Red, does anyone know what the current equivalent is as it's not on paint charts I have for Humbrol.

Re: Marky's Mustang's
I'd go with Humbrol 19 Gloss Bright Red.....
Looking good so far! (even if a little fuzzy )

Re: Marky's Mustang's
19 was my first instinct but I wondered if it was too strong a red. Still, I think I'll go for it.iggie wrote:I'd go with Humbrol 19 Gloss Bright Red.....

When I've had a proper look at my new camera's bells and whistles I'll hopefully get better at close up's!!
