Toby's Academic Nieuport. FINISHED
I'll be doing the First World War Centenary edition from Academy of the Nieuport 17
Not sure which markings yet. I've also acquired some Mastercaster resin aftermarket bits and bobs

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Re: Toby's Academic Nieuport
Been doing some pre build work re washing and checking out parts and I'll only be using some of the Mastercaster bits. I've located my Datafile on Nieuport fighters and I've ordered a French Vickers, and Lewis gun from Gaspatch along with paints from Misterkit.

Nice looking kit Toby. You may be able to help me too - I have a very basic Hobby Craft boxing of one in the same scale but it has no colour call outs at all - would you be able to photograph the paint plan from your instruction for me please - the decals sheets look similar so I imagine my kit has the same basic aircraft markings as yours. Your build should hopefully inspire me to tackle mine which got put back in the stash years ago as too basic/difficult/fiddly to be bothered with!
Cheers

No problem but don't get your hopes up as they aren't much cop and I've had to do a lot of research to find out the colours neededbeany wrote:Nice looking kit Toby. I've started with some fairly simple stuff. The prop. I used Lifecolor cocoa first and then dry brushed Tamiya linoleum deck brown on top with a final coat of Vallejo wood grain.

Re: Toby's Academic Nieuport
Today I started on the engine.
It's a le Rhone 9J
I used Vallejo steel mixed with some Vallejo metallic black and a black wash for the crankcase and aluminium with a sepia wash for the pistons.
Next up the inlet pipes and there is a slight gap at the top of the cylinder head that will have to be filled

Re: Toby's Academic Nieuport
Nice start on the engine, in the image of the real engine what side are we looking at the front or rear?
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.
