Looking good. With the exception of the Mossie and theTyphoons all of those 1/24 Airfix Kits date from when god was a lad.

Well done for persevering with it.

Apologies for the huge lack of updates, have been plodding along with this one. TBH, if it wasn't a Spitfire I might have lost interest completely. Still, she's together now, wings added to fuselage, everything on apart from the intake under the chin and some aerials. Pics later....

Finally some pics, still going with this one, now that the wings are attached to the fuselage it looks good and more importantly it looks like a Spit!.

How did you find the undercarriage on this one?

Yeah, it was on the sprue, who'd have thought!!. :ha: :ha: . In truth not brilliant as far as fit. It seems it was meant to go up and down, a working feature I think they're called. Although the bits to hold the leg were good, the leg was a slight kinked shape at the top end and it was not easy to retract the wheels. I would have left it wheels down but as I wanted wheels up I cut the top of the legs off and the two little stubs that were at right angles to the leg. I just glued the leg/wheel into the bay and put the doors on top.
If you model it wheels down it would be fine IIRC, but changing it between the two- not so much.

I found the top of the leg to be too long, and it kept fouling the underside of the top wing skin. So much so that it actually pushed apart the two pieces after they'd been glued!

It's not so bad now, but I won't be cycling the gear much, that's for sure!

Yes, that's what I found with the leg when I tried to lower it, the top was too long on this one to.

Hi, been working extra at my morning job this week (8 hours or so!), and as I already feel tired most of the time, grabbing extra money made it worse. By the time I get done with my afternoon job and walk the dog I'm worn out!!. . Therefore I have struggled with time to model and even more so with putting pics on here. However here is the state of play with the Spit. Some work done although splits appeared in the wing root at the back of the wing, shims of plastic were glued in and trimmed. Needs some painting, along with some other areas where I've made it more smooth and gotten rid of a slight step.
