Looking good Daren - Revell Aqua with the hairy stick? looks to be good paint coverage, did it take a few coats? (I consider myself to be generally quite a poor brush painter, doubly so with acrylics!)
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Yep, Revell Aqua "Sky" applied with the hairy stick. That's just the first coat, so I'll be going over it later.

Two layers of dark earth now on the topsides, so hopefully that should do it. I'll leave it to dry properly overnight before attempting the dark green patches tomorrow.

First layer of dark green:

While that lot dries, I'm going to stick the exhausts and undercarriage together...

Speedy progress Brown and green are classic spitfire colours.

I pulled my boxing of this kit out last night and started to deal to the rivet detail on the rear fuselage with some Mr.Disolved Putty. After a rub back it's looking a lot better..

Look forward to seeing the decals appear.

Cheers

You know, apart from the fiddly cockpit detail, and my gripes about over-engineered parts (I'm not too convinced of the undercarriage set-up!), this isn't actually a bad kit at all. Yes, it has some detail/accuracy issues but, if you're not massively fussy about that, it builds up into a nice Spitfire-shaped model. And it's relatively cheap, too.

Would I build another one? Quite probably.

Yet more nifty work with the hairy stick Daren. I have limited experience with the Revell Aqua acrylics range but the light grey and blue that I did use the other year on a Revell B-737-800 build airbrushed really well. Could be that the range suits both HS and puff brush users equally - I have found some acrylics awful to apply by brush even for detail work, yet the same paints have worked well enough in the airbrush.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Cheers, Shaun.

Here's the second lot of green over the brown - looks better since I opened a new pot!

I really, really like these Revell Aqua acrylics. As I'm a die-hard brush painter, I find thinning the paints down a lot easier to do than I did with enamels. Add to that the fact that it dries quicker (ready for the next coat in about an hour!) and it's brilliant stuff. VERY handy for blitz builds! ;-)

I don't think I'll get an awful lot done over the weekend, so it's looking like next week for the finish.
