'Wie ein floh Aber oho' 1/32 Wunderwaffe. "FINISHED"
'Wie ein floh Aber oho' 1/32 Wunderwaffe. "FINISHED"
With the Bf-109 coming to a conclusion and the happy realisation that this GB rolls on for another 6 or so weeks.
I thought I'd give this a go...
Unsure on scheme at the moment but it won't be the all over red one...
More once the Bf-109 is finished...

I had a bit of a look at this yesterday and decided the kit seat was pretty hopeless.
So I have made a replacement out of some 'soda can' Aluminium.
That looks a bit better and with some seatbelts in place it should be ok.
Cheers

Nice work!
Best wishes

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

I know it's a 1/32, but how big is it, actually?

The seat of the aircraft?
The grid in the cutting mat are 5mm squares.

This is a great subject IMHO Gadfly and I would imagine the finished model will be quite a manageable size even in 1/32 as the real thing is not exactly huge. I see the dimensions are on the box in your photo but I can't quite make them out (I have the old Dragon '163 in 1/48th that is quite small and in 1/72nd the aircraft is positively tiny). I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work with this one.

Yeah, like Shaun says, 'ow big is the plane? Some of these 163 models are a choke hazard.

I'm all set to watch this masterpiece, I have pulled up my chair opened a can of beer and a packet of pop corn.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Right I'm back from my overseas jaunt.
I took the Komet with me and knocked out a bit of re-scribing while I was away. Business travel is pretty boring so the Komet was a pleasant distraction along with Netflix on the laptop.
Here are the main parts taped up for an indication of size.
And some close up of the re-scribing. Which is mostly a rivet job I suppose. I used a compass point an a chuck for the large rivets and a RB productions rivet tool for the smaller ones. The panels were scribed in using a set of Hasegawa templates.
So that's actually meant that the week has been reason t productive modelling wise.
I'll now dip back to finish the 109 before continuing with this.
Cheers

So with the Bf-109 compete I've been chipping away at the Komet...
Here is the cockpit. I used my fabricated seat adding a cushion maxed from epoxy filler and some home made belts out of aluminium and fine wire. I painted the stitching in these which I quite like.
The IP I did following some advice from Wayne Hui. Wayne produces some great builds using older Monogram kits.. his technique with raised detail on IP's is to paint a base coat in white acrylic then the top color in enamel paint then use a cotton bud moistened in thinners to reveal the detail in a contrast colour. I did this and painted the dial surrounds with a fine brush.
The fuselage halves are now together I have built the wings and need to do the rear fuselage. Progress should be fairly quick now the pit is done.
Cheers

That cockpit looks excellent and is good to see the whole thing assembled now. Any more idea as to the choice of scheme yet?
Best wishes

Something with mottling and splinter on the wings...
Re: 'Wie ein floh Aber oho' 1/32 Wunderwaffe.
Further work on the Komet.
The seams are sorted. I added some BMF and aziu tape on the spine to recreate the stepped panels covering the ammo boxes and refuelling points. I also bent up a small bracket to locate the armoured glass in the cockpit and added a fuel dump tube from fine brass tubing also adding some inspection ports to the wing using some punched out discs of BMF.
More later
Cheers
