Mav's wind powered treasure ******Finished******

Post by IronMan129 »

Hey folks!
After last times none starter I decided to really push on this one and get started and finished.

I found this little Gem yesterday at the Midlands Expo for £3:50 and had to have it as I'd never see one again.
Its a PZW72 SZD-22-MUCH STD Glider.
Il be doing it in RAF markings seen on XS651.
Pics will follow.

Thanks Fredk.
Ok folks I've found the time to do a quick blitz so here is an overview of the kit and box:

My entertainment during the build will be the Olympics and the Iron Man Trilogy.
As for food and drink I'm cooking a ton of jacket potato's to go with some cheese and spaghetti and 3 2L bottles of Asda shandy.
Done on a budget but a good evening ahead me thinks.

I've never personally seen a glider in 1/72nd scale before so when I saw this I just had to get it as I knew I'd never see another one again.
One sprue for the whole kit with a loose canopy.

All bits are off and ready to be painted and put together.

And finally here is a pic of the clock to confirm the time.

See you all in an hour!

That looks a nice little kit; I hope it doesn't hide any nasty surprises for you Mav!!
Best wishes

Thanks Iggie, no its not a bad little kit at all!
I can't see why there aren't more glider kits out there!

Ok so an hour on and wow shes getting there!
All painted and most decals are on:

I do have a problem though.
I don't have and reg or "Air Cadet" decals so I'm going to have to think of a solution for that one.

Another hour passes and the end gets closer.
The canopy has been attached using klear and I've scratch made a tow bar out of some brass rod I picked up the other day.

I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do about the reg and titles.

Nice work Adam. These are sweet little kits. Agreed there should be more glider kits. The Revell 1/32 ones are superb.

All the best.

That does look nice. Never built a glider myself.

Great work.

Nice work.

there are more 1/72 scale gliders out there, I got four from eBay not that long ago, the only problem they tend to be polish designed gliders but they are plain simple a fun to build.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Thanks folks!
Greggers - it was a sweet kit to build!

Old_Tonto - me neither until this point, I'm very pleased with it and if I ever find another one I won't hesitate to buy it!

Splash - ahh ok mate, I'm actually looking for the modern glider that's pictured on the back of the box so Il keep an eye out for them.

So my grub went down a treat!
Image

So I found a set of decals for the tail and reg.
The Tail was from a Hurricane and the reg was from a Dominie.
I know it's not the proper reg but it's the closest I had in my stash so I'm calling this one done!
Image
I've really enjoyed this build and if I find time I may complete another!

That's quick - I didn't even have time to follow it. I'm not into gliders but that looks bloody brilliant mate. Very well done.
Kudos to Fred - this Group Build is off to a great start with completed builds being posted already - must be time for us to fit two or 3 more in eh Adam, and get through some more of those Home Bargains treasures?!

Cheers
Al.
