Jeff's P40 blitz******Finished*****

Post by jssel »

Looking at the Hasegawa P40N in 72. One of the first in a series of "scribed" kits from way back in the early 80's

Pics to follow.

Tough decision. Decals cover 80 Sqdn RAAF and AAF Tactical training unit. Not sure which I will do.

Getting my time issues under control with a one hour time hack.

Image

There is few issues with sink marks at the beginning. The area over the flaps and the covering right behind the seat. Letting the filler dry and working on the cockpit, which is non-existent for detail, and some other areas.

0800 time hack.

Image

The cockpit is mostly devoid of detailing. So I added some spurious details of my own.

Image

Cooling vents were drilled out on the cowling. Hope they look good when the paint is put on.

Image

So far progressing to my liking. Super glue on the fingers.............oh yeah.

Time to brew a strong cuppa joe.

0900 check in.

Pretty happy so far with the progress.

Dined on wheat bread with blueberry jam and a strong cuppa paint remover.

Seams being cleaned up.

Overview with the good ol' Heathkit clock.

Nice progress Jeff. Leaving for work (away) now so won't be able to follow the rest "live" but look forward to seeing the completed build tomorrow.
Cheers
Al.

10AM time hack.

Image

Try as I might the starboard wing has a big gap at the root. I stretched sprue to make a piece tp fit in. Yeah the gap was that wide. The dihedrel looked right on so filling the area had to be done.

Image

Spot of detailing on the drop tank. A filler cap was added.

11AM check in.

Almost all the body work is completed now and I am stirring paint etc. Dreading a whole mess of canopy masking. At least ost of the panels are square edged.

Happy with the way the wing root turned out.

This is going really well, even with the wing root-canal work :-D

I would look in more, but I'm blitzing myself at the moment; this time a 1:1 ensuite bathroom
Best wishes

Jim
