Re: Blitzbau House
Getting ready to start tonight. Here is my subject choice:
Bilek 1/72 L-29 Delfin.
Not too many parts but what there are look a bit rough with plenty of flash.
I had intended to build this as an east german example in NMF but AMK released a rather nice L-29 recently so I bought that. So this kit will be sacrificed in the name of Blitzbau.
As none of the kit markings excited me i decided to go with something a bit different:
This could be a big mistake if the decals break up. or a pain if they don't.
The other hassle I foresee is that the kit comes with a vac canopy. I hate them and never seem to achieve a nice fit.
Hopefully it should end up looking like this:
Cosmic is in for the 24 hour build too and his subject of choice is:
This is a really old boxing and the decals are completely shot. Consequently he is planning to do some kind of what-if build possibly featuring red stars!
Finnski is set to join in to complete the trio I think with an Academy A-37 Dragonfly in South Vietnamese markings.
In the interests of this family friendly forum nudity will be kept to a minimum and alcohol consumed in a responsible manner.
That's the plan any way.
We are meeting up about 5:30 GMT for a pre-blitz meal so I guess by the time we get to the Blitzbau house and set everything up we are looking at a 7:30 start.
Hope you can join us.

Re: Blitzbau House *** TODAY AT 7:30 GMT ***
Looking forward to the mayhem organised and efficient modelling extravaganza that awaits us.....
And to see how those tiger decals work, as I have a set and it's always nice if someone else has a bash first

And we are off:
Cosmic hits his first problem, glue tried up. He is in the kitchen messing with the gas to clear the blockage. Lets hope he doesn't breath on the flame!
I just realized that each tiger stripe decal is separate. Bum!

Re: Blitzbau House *** TODAY AT 7:30 GMT ***
Started the Delfin interior.
No detail to speak of. No numbers on the sprue either! Also instructs me to make the IP.
Cosmic is rocking on. Although he seems to have gone from stage 2 to stage 7. Should have turned the page over!
I'm surprised he's allowed out on his own.
Finnski has arrived and is setting up whilst we watch Paul playing 'No Man's Sky'. We have named a planet Blitzbau.

Re: Blitzbau House *** TODAY AT 7:30 GMT ***
Finnski's Dragonfly cockpit puts my efforts to shame.
There again, his kit has one!
We are watching 'Big Trouble in Little China'. We might be heading towards a John Carpenter evening.

Re: Blitzbau House *** TODAY AT 7:30 GMT ***
I LOVE Big Trouble in Little China! Great movie. You need to watch Buckaroo Banzai across the Eighth Dimension next, followed by Carpenter's The Thing and finish up with Escape from New York.
