Re: Right here, right now. KB's FW190. Now with Lamb Tagine!
Oh Beanie, little do you know! Time to 'fess up, I've lost the windscreen and I've spent at least an hour trying to find it. If it doesn't turn up, I'll finish the build without it and scratch-build a replacement. In the meantime, though, I've finished the decalling and I'm ready to get on with the weathering. Undercarriage remains untouched.
Just spent ten minutes trying to upload a picture but Postimage isn't having any!

Well, that's where we were.
This is now:
Don't you just love Flory Washes? They look horrible when they first go on, but you can get some stunning effects from them. I've never used it on a small plane before, so I'm hoping that it turns out well, since you need to handle the model fairly roughly to get the effect you want.

Nice work so far and time for a cookery lesson too! I look forward to seeing how the wash turns out.

I wanted to depict a fairly well-worn aircraft and I think this is the effect I was looking for:
I'm done for tonight as I can't see the ends of my arms at the moment. The undercarriage is painted; I can't work out what colour the wheel wells are supposed to be, so when in doubt, go for RLM02 with a sepia wash.
I'll start up again in the morning, but to be honest there isn't really much to do. I wish that I could have finished it tonight as there's really only an hour or so's work remaining. Not counting the windscreen, but you never know, it might turn up tomorrow.

Very nice so far

Looking good.
Wheel wells could be either RLM 02 or unpainted aluminium.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Great work, and who can resist a Tagine with a Flory wash?!
Best wishes

Thanks for that, Fred. I thought it might have been aly but wasn't sure. Too late now.
Flory washes are always irresistible, Iggie. I know you're a fan, too.
Good suggestion, John, but the cat never comes up to the Hobby Eyrie. Anyway, he only does armour. Working on a Maus at the moment.
Right, back to work, and hopefully the internet connection will be better this morning.

Getting there.
I've taken some of the wash off, matt varnished it with Vallejo acrylic and added the undercarriage. I need to do the prop now and all the odd bits you tend to forget about.
Also I'm taking the opportunity to fuel up on ginger biscuits.

Re: Right here, right now. KB's FW190. Now with Lamb Tagine!
I'm calling that finished, at 11.55, despite the lack of windscreen. What's the Blitzbau rule about scratch-building lost parts, Fred?
I'll sort out a windscreen later today and post a picture up on the completions thread.
Have to say, this is the best £2.50 kit I've bought. It went together beautifully, the panel lines were excellent; the only thing that let it down was the quality the transparencies.
Thanks for joining me in this build, and thanks for your kind and supportive comments. I don't normally build in the Gentleman's Scale; I say it's because I prefer the detail in 1/48 but really it's because I can't see the damned bits!

Excellent.
You still have 3 hours 11 minutes to find or build that canopy windscreen,
