I don't believe any of the extended fin/thimble nose Beaus had quite reached squadrons in early February - I think that they didn't start showing up until later that month. I'll check with Terry for a definitive answer.
Hi Paul,

I have 1/144 codes for QM-D and PL-F, so I'll take PL-Q for my mini-Beau sans fillet and radar nose. Serial # may be a problem, but I may take liberties with that.

Regards

Martin

Excellent choices Martin  I think I'll give James a PM and see if he has any prop blurs left or would be willing to produce some more.

Paul - I'm planning to finish my Beau as NE669 / EO-A as she has a very unusual Sky painted rudder and the torpedo crutches installed ( the latter because I've already pre-drilled those weapon mounts). The decals are on my Aviaeology 'Black Friday' sheet so I wont need any posting over.

Yes, but fart and give us a clue mate... I assume 3 bladed, but radius (or diameter); yellow tips required? etc..

I may not be able to match the exact radius required but I'll see what I have in my private stock.

Cheers
Al.

EDIT - Sorry Tom, didn't see that you'd already responded to Martin.

It should come as no surprise, given my lack of activity here and elsewhere, that I will be unable to produce the two flak-lighters for the SMW display. This project was supposed to be complete early in the year and has stalled simply because of a lack of modeling time of any sort this year -- and I see no change to that between now and mailing time for SMW.

If anyone would like the two kits and make a stab at it, I can have them in the mail promptly -- announce it here and PM your mailing address.

Sorry about this, but I finally faced up to reality today.

John - can you give some insight into how much work and what the kits entail please, that might help someone who like myself is not familiar with the kits and what they are come to a decision.

Chris (or anyone) - here is a "build" thread: http://www.uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=13003;
You'll note it links to a previous thread with background discussion.

I cannot ship the paints, but the source is in the UK.

I'm going to be shopping for clear acrylic rod on which to mount my planes. I have never used this before so what sort of diams should I be looking at for mounting the 1/72 and 1/144 Beaux? Off the top of my head I was thinking 5mm for the 1/72 and 3mm for the 1/144 as a guide for drilling mounting holes. Does that sound about right?

Tom will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we agreed on 4mm for the 1/72s; 3mm sounds good for the 1/144s though.

My concern is the length of the rods and anchoring them to the base/tables to prevent over-balancing - any suggestions?

Brilliant! Thanks, James. Apologies for not reading through the rest of the thread.

I'm also thinking of not having prop blurs for the 1/144 as I think they would look too bulky. Therefore, hubs only. Any views?

In that scale and smaller I think we can get away without blurs - so hubs will do nicely Martin, I'll do the same with my mini focke.

The acrylic rod arrived today - nice surprise! Anyways, this is how they look mounted:

I discovered that plastic card - even a large sheet - wasn't enough to hold up the model, so I resorted to old trophy plaques. I might paint them white - what do you think?

Hmmm, that's a thought. I had assumed that my acrylic rods would stick straight into the fjord base. If not, I need to come up with bases. Advice please!
