A Whiffery GB for any type of model, not just aeroplanes/airplanes.
Ships/submarines, tanks/AFVs, cars/autos, space/SciFi, even figures all can be done
Two basic categories;
Simple decal changes, maybe with mild surgery
Surgery or major replacement of parts.
But all must have a story to back it up, no matter how silly or unbelievable.
This GB started from a thread here.
The GB runs from September 15th to October 16th; your GBL is fredk who will fill in any other info.

A note about the back-story to go with your build.
Preferably written up before you start building but it can be changed as you build to suit changing ideas or whatever.
Post the story in your build thread and it can go with your finished build in the Gallery as well.
Get signed up chaps.
This starts on Thursday, just a few days away.

Re: Sign-up and Chat
I'm ready....although bench time has been non-existent for the last three weeks!
I may have to build the (inevitable) invisible stealth fighter for this one.....
Just kidding; I have a couple of options to choose from and bench time is becoming a reality again soon

As a newbie, and never done anything like this,do you mind If I watch and pick up tips and when I am confident enough I could join on a GB in the future.

Re: Sign-up and Chat
Sure, of course.
I reckon this is one of the more fun least-pressured GBs. Just throw somat together story wise and plastic wise, add a few decals from the spares and you're done.
Do consider joining in sometime.
Its no big deal if you don't get finished. I, and others, have not finished models in time. We finish them later. The time limit is just to keep it all focused.
Its not a competition, its not serious, modelling is supposed to be fun.

Is there a 'Home Bargains' or Aldi near you? They have been selling Airfix kits for £2.99, and quite a variety of them too.

Re: Sign-up and Chat
In mid 2016, our protagonist in small town Florida suddenly was faced with a dilemma. A new GB had arisen on UAMF calling for 'WhatIf' models.
Our protagonist had shown symptoms of being unable to decide what subjects to model in previous GBs but the wide range opened up by a Whatif GB was almost too much to contemplate: a simple decal change? Say a USAF Hunter? Maybe convert such and such a kit to a version that was on the design boards but never built? Like a swing-wing Lightning? How about a total mongrel by combining bits from multiple kits? Perhaps a delta winged Sabre?
After a week or so of deliberation, the choice came down to one of three. He was almost set on one of those when, as usual, a reason to delay further arose: he thought of yet another idea. This would need a bit of consideration (euphemism for more dithering)........................
