Wet Coast whiffery by gnomemeansgnome >> Finished <<

A Whiffery GB for any type of model. Simple decal changes, mild surgery or major. But all must have a story to back it up, no matter how silly or unbelievable.
The GB runs from 15 Sep through 16 Oct, and your host is FredK.

I'm thinking a helipad somewhere.

Thanks Martin. I am really digging your Heinkel Super Griffon build as well. And relax, Fred. It's a whiff, remember? First I focus on getting the fortification sorted out, then I deal with details. I have added a breakwater to its starboard side, and will add a dock once I am done with the fort part. And yes Saxon, I too was toying with the idea of a helipad as part of its last incarnation shortly before it was decommissioned. I had also briefly considered a catapult and spotter aircraft as well.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Thanks. Yes, a concrete battleship is what I am aiming for. Just brushed on more dirt and sand with white glue to all rocky points after a hopefully last sand for the fort 'hull'. Brown primer to go on first thing tomorrow. Then the fiddly bits and a jack to go with the ensign.

Got the brown primer down on the fort and diorama. As you can see the rudiments of a breakwater have been added; the dock and cranes etc come later. Once dry it's time for fifty shades of grey......paint, that is. Then water colours and very sparse vegetation.

That is really looking the part now; your 'rock-work' looks spot on for scale against the deck & barbette structures
Best wishes

Thanks Iggie. I am having a ball with this thing and actually I hope I can maybe get it done in time to take to the IPMS show here this coming Saturday.

Thanks. The 'realistic' fake water I was going to use appears to have dried up but I reckon a healthy dollop or three of acrylic floor wax might do instead. Lurching toward a finish here, I think.

After this gooey phase, top it up here and there and then add waves from a jar of stuff called 'realistic water effects'.
