Re: Sign-up and Chat
Welcome along to and aboard the Suez Crisis GB; an open GB for any scale, kit, nationality or medium of build.
As always anyone and everyone is welcome to join in, no need to have 'signed up' previously; the more the merrier!
The only thing I ask for is that everyone who participates takes the time to contribute to everyone else's threads, to offer support and advice, to ask questions about the builds and methods used, and to have a bit of banter at the same time
The reason for my involvement in this GB is that my father was involved in the action as a Troop (later) Company Sargent Major in the Royal Signals. It would be great if any others have personal connections with the operation they can share along with their builds.
I look forwards to seeing the threads come alive with people's planned builds, ready for our start date of 5th November

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Looking at the Trumpeter Westland Wyvern for this one. The design kind of grows on you.

I'll convert the Academy TBM-1 Avenger into a TBM-3W of the Aeronavale for this GB, if I do have the time I'll follow this up with a British Army Centurion.

It does indeed Jeff, and a type I was considering myself for this GB....but you have declared first so unless I become devoid of any other ideas the Wyvern will be your responsibility!jssel wrote:Looking at the Trumpeter Westland Wyvern for this one. The design kind of grows on you.

Re: Sign-up and Chat
Hi Novo,
I'm afraid that your Wyvern is probably a little too far progressed to be allowed into an ongoing GB; the guidelines for GB's state:
-- All UAMF GB's start with un-started kits, unless previously approved by the GBC. In general, kits must be "barely started", preferably not much more than a few bits & pieces relative to the size of the kit. The GB Leader must approve each one and not more than one or two per GB would be appropriate.
I think that as we already have one Wyvern entered for the build, starting from scratch, it would be inappropriate to allow another when it is so far advanced.
If you wish to finish it and post it in the 'previously built models' section, we would love to see it there.
I hope that you will be able to find something else to build and take part in the GB
Best wishes

Ok - I'm understanding
Re: Sign-up and Chat
I'm probably overly optimistic but I'm joining with the Airfix Shackleton. I've got the kit, decals (including extra stencil decals just got to manage my time well!

I'm struggling for choices. I was going to do my Wyvern but that's been snapped up, as has the Hunter option. I do have a Aeroclub Venom FB.4, and a Pembroke.....
I wanted to save my Valiant for a Mk.2 conversion attempt, but even so they didn't wear yellow and black stripes so....
