That's something different...
also quite a conversion required to get a -1 to a -3 AEW

Looking forward to the build...

The sprues have been washed and before the model can be built some modifications have to be made to the fuselage halves, the turret aperture and some of the rear windows need to be blanked off, I have done this with sprue paste filler which will take a little while to dry, until then work will begin on the wings.

I was going to scratch this one but had forgotten about the Falcon vacuform conversion kit- I will order that instead and start afresh.

Looking forward to seeing what the conversion kit is like and how much surgery will be involved

After cutting out the vacform fuselage halves and comparing them to the plans and kit parts I found that this just cannot be built using the Academy kit despite it being cited as an option on the instruction sheet, the Academy TBM-1 engine/nose is too different and is smaller and the Falcon conversion does not include the TBM-3 cowlings I would need to use the Academy parts as a donor kit, therfore I will have to retire in disgrace in this instance as the GB is about to end and I cannot get the required Airfix Avenger in time to provide the much needed engine and cowling in order to continue. This model will be completed in the new year under Aviation Modelling.
