Sign-up and Chat

Celebrating the man who flew 487 different aircraft, more than any other pilot, and who could be the greatest pilot of all time. We cannot duplicate his feat but each modeler will build a unique aircraft replicating one flown by Captain Brown.
The GB runs 19 November to 18 December and your host is FredK.

I don't think I'm going to get this done anyway to be honest. I've started but there's no way I'm going to make a good enough job of it even with an extension.

I might revert to doing the kit in the supplied yellow wings scheme and do the better Airfix offering as Winkle's Martlet later.

Folks, this ends at the end of the 18th, only 4 full days left.

Many of you who are really trying are close, but not close enough to finishing, you may get it done, but its a lot of pressure on you at this time of year.
Various happenings are delaying your works; paint not drying, masking, business meetings, home things for this season

This is a very special GB dedicated to a unique special pilot
Rather than having a load of nearly but not quite there DNFs
Unless John R objects
I propose a long extension to the end date.
Usually if we have an extension it is 2 or 3 days maximum.
I propose we end this at the end of December 23rd
Thats an extra 5 days

I know its much more than usual, but then was not Capt Brown unusual?
To paraphrase an old advert 'Because he's worth it'

Arguments against?
No argument here!
Had a bit of a gravity/hard surface mishap with my MG, then someone asked me to do a painting that's to be a Christmas present for someone....by Saturday! Hopefully the extra time will let me get the MG and Seafire finished.
..........wonder if I could get a Skua done as well? :-D

I'm done (and somewhat relieved after the last week of fighting with weeping resin!!!). Even with that, I have to say another enjoyable GB. Thanks, Fred.

Thanks David.
Even tho you had problems with your build you won thru in the end.
Its a great satisfaction when one finishes a problem build to a good standard.- a very good looker your Spiteful is so it is.

Even tho we have the extension until end of Friday don't let up
I wanna see those completions rolling in.
Get them posted up in the Gallery
[that means you Purplethistle :) ]

PS; why do I feel compelled to write increasingly in US English shorthand just on this forum?
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

I had been hoping to post them in chronological order in the Gallery like a mini biography, but the MG will probably be the last to get finished.....(a couple of overnight heavy duty glue setting sessions required methinks!)

I'll be a DNF, sadly. My holiday took too much time away, that's also sad to say.
I'll do a state-of-play photo tomorrow then post a finish elsewhere.

It was a great idea for a GB, thank you for running it Fred, and I sincerely regret not being able to do it justice or Capt Brown honor.

We have ten completions, all are in the Gallery.
Well done those chaps.
The rest of have been beaten by things thrown at us by the outside of modelling world.
Let us make those DNFs into late arrivals.
