Re: Winkle and the SS
Many thanks to JRatz for supplying the donor kits. From what I can tell from photos this will be mostly TC with Magnette wheels, windscreen and seats....oh, and a wee extension at the back to make it a tourer!
If I Look reeeeeallllly hard, I can just see my comfort zone away in the distance!

Re: Winkle and the SS
Progress on the MG. From what I can tell from photos, I need to extend the area behind the front seats by about 5mm by cutting out and extending the rear space and making back seats from the Matchbox front seats (the new front seats will come from the Airfix Magnette.

Some more progress, including shaving off the driver figures cap and wee bow tie. The head was removed and repositioned. The engine will not be seen so it is only getting basic paint and included in case it is integral to the structure of the chassis.

Re: Winkle and the SS
Pre-painting the bodywork made sticking the bodywork panels together tricky but hopefully I'll have minimal touch up to do because masking an open top would be fun....not!
On to the SS officer and Feldwebel whilst the glue on the MG sets

Re: Winkle and the SS
Oh blinking flip! I was moulding a new folded top from Milliput and putting it onto the back of the MG when it slipped out of my hand onto a non-carpeted floor. My attempt to catch it only succeeded in breaking off the headlights and dislodging the radiator grille. On arrival at the floor, the extra weight of the Milliput soft top caused both rear wheels to snap off where they join the suspension.
Gonna need the extended time to effect repairs rather than getting another build in!

I have every faith in your ability to recover from this near disaster
I would, if possible, put wire pins into the repaired axle joints. I find that without re-enforcement they remain a weak joint.

Re: Winkle and the SS
More repair work following a second 'Gravity whoops!' this time the front axle came adrift along with a (recently re-affixed) headlight, the folded roof and spare wheel. Having trouble getting the spare wheel and soft top back on the way they were
