Marky's ta152 ***FINISHED***

Celebrating the man who flew 487 different aircraft, more than any other pilot, and who could be the greatest pilot of all time. We cannot duplicate his feat but each modeler will build a unique aircraft replicating one flown by Captain Brown.
The GB runs 19 November to 18 December and your host is FredK.

Not sure whether to use the Revell 1/72 version I have, which IIRC has the right decals, or the 1/48th one that I bought at Peterborough about five years ago!!. Before any of you say do both, most of my building areas are already involved in builds so only one space available once the Royal Navy F/A-18D is done. :grin:

Nearly done, just decals and canopy. I will try and get pics up tonight. Haven't been great with this GB, nor the Suez one, at getting pictures up so apologies all round.

Keep going Fred!. This is not the most complicated kit but it goes together very well. Only needed some filler at the wing roots. Tried my hand (well clipped cotton bud (or q-tip) at mottling. Not the best result perhaps but a decent start.

I've just found a picture of this aircraft in Eric Brown's 'Wings of the Luftwaffe' book which show it in RAF markings which are mostly over the German ones, others like the fuselage codes are painted out. I think I'll build another of these in those markings.

Thanks!. Yes, it is old but I agree with your opinion, simple and easy to build, might be a Blitzbau contender!!. The others I have are FROG ones, not sure if this is the same kit.

Very nice indeedy

Scalemates says the Revell Ta152 is Revell's own, and the Frog one is their own, neither shared with anybody

Thanks, and for the info. Looking at the FROG kit it seems similar if not the same to the Revell one. Although there may only be so many ways to break down a 152!.

Sorry!! :lol: . As I think I've rambled about, it's a really easy kit to make. I just followed along after it! :-D

Mark,

Nice - and quick - Ta152!

I like the mottling. I am currently experimenting with supergluing a piece of make up sponge onto the blunted end of a cocktail stick and cutting to shape.

Hi Fred,

I disagree with Scalemates on this one; I believe the Frog Ta152 and the Revell ones are the same kits.

I base this view on:

Visual inspection of the parts. They're the same, even down to having the same shape issues present in both;

The late type Frog box artwork is the same as the early Revell;

Scalemates make no connection in other cases where Frog Lufty tools were subsequently bought and reissued by Revell (Me410 and Do 335 are the ones I checked).

The story I heard is that when Frog went bust, the majority of the tools were transferred to Novo, but they didn't want "Nazi" types. Revell took these instead.

Can anyone confirm?

Regards

Martin
