Tri-Pacer **Finished**

Celebrating the man who flew 487 different aircraft, more than any other pilot, and who could be the greatest pilot of all time. We cannot duplicate his feat but each modeler will build a unique aircraft replicating one flown by Captain Brown.
The GB runs 19 November to 18 December and your host is FredK.

Actually, I'm way to much of a kid to wait 24hrs before opening the package. I'll spend some time tomorrow toughing up the bad spots here:

Wow, thanks for all the atta-boys
I'll probably decal her up today, after I do some business. Hope to have more photos by this evening.

I failed to catch the fuselage sides not being the same, and my fuselage side lines are too wide. It was hard to decide a course, considering the instructions scheme differs from any box-top scheme. I've managed a cross between the two.
Happy enough with it, to be sure.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Perhaps not, but, they'll definitely notice this:

This is after 3x application of Walthers decal set. The old decals are not playing ball, and with each setting solution coat, it gets worse. The dye's are beginning to run on the white.
My only option is to remove the decal while I still can, and go with Letra set style if I can find them in red. The old decals just arn't cutting it.

In hindsight, I should have cut the long decal into individual letters. I'm sad

oh poo, that is really upsetting.
Both like that?
If not;
Could you use the under-wing one on top?

The carrier on these old decals is way too thick to try using them again. I did manage fairly well with the small 'Piper' and smaller serial. I'm afraid to use a setting solution on them, and will just seal them in with a varnish on completion.
Image

As far as the large wing serial goes, I'm going to try use the remaining one to make a set of stencils.

In the photo, you can barely see the red die deposited on the right wing top. Not bad, just bad enough to bug me.
Image

So the plan today: Go around touching up obvious paint flaws and quickly mask and light spray that top wing.

Getting closer anyway!

Shame about those decals. So frustrating to have something like that happen so late in the build but it's a wonderful paint job on top of a great build and worthy of careful completion. Well done.

PS - Letraset type rubdown lettering? Can you still buy that stuff?

I dunno!, but don't forget, I'm still using a dynamo label punch and I'm too old to run!

Anyway, before I mess this model up anymore, I'm going to call her done without the wing serials. I'll leave it up to the leader to decide if she's far enough complete to place a photo in the completed album.
The fact is, I have further plans for it. I want to finish the two hunters and the cat, and put it on a base as a true vintage Monogram display.

Here it is:
