Lancfan's captured Storch ***Finished***

Celebrating the man who flew 487 different aircraft, more than any other pilot, and who could be the greatest pilot of all time. We cannot duplicate his feat but each modeler will build a unique aircraft replicating one flown by Captain Brown.
The GB runs 19 November to 18 December and your host is FredK.

Work began on Friday evening, the first step was to make up the serial decals on my PC using Paint Shop Pro based on a photograph of AM101/VP546 in its latter guise, The underwing serials were in an official font but the fuselage serials were not so this meant making up two sets of artwork. Here are the finished decals ready for later in the build.
Image

Pre-painting and construction began on Saturday by pre-painting the cockpit interior parts and I then assembled the cockpit and wings, the fuselage was then assembled and the wing undersides were painted and the underwing serials were applied. The canopy was slightly too large for the fuselage (or the fuselage too narrow) and never having built this kit before I did not expect this problem of an Heller model so the correction had to be made after assembly.

Nice. What paper do you use for your decals? I've tried several but none are perfect - some the ink mottles, others print well but do not want to release from the backing paper and others are very prone to curling up the instant they do release.

I bought mine from Amazon UK, they are of Chinese origin and work fine.

The same parts ready for asssembly.

With the wings and struts in place all that remained to be fitted were the undercarriage and the last few odd parts.

Finished, captured Fieseler FI-156-C-7 Storch AM101/VP546 as flown by Eric Brown for deck landing trials on HMS Triumph, May 1946. The aircraft is currently on display at RAFM Cosford in its original Luftwaffe markings.

Always a favourite of mine since seeing one land into wind at Booker many many years ago at walking pace, and stop rolling in about 10 yards!

very nicely built David, and it looks really smart in the all-over silver; great job!
Best wishes

Jim
If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing
