Daz's Pearl Harbor gift set - two out of three ain't bad!

7 December 1941 -- any subject, air, land or sea, any kit, any scale -- as long as the subject participated in Pearl Harbor and carries appropriate markings.

Mitsubishi A6M2B-21 "Zero" (Zeke), flown by Lieutenant Saburo Shindo, lead aircraft of Carrier Division 1, Air Superiority Command, 2nd Strike Unit, carrier Akagi.

I enjoyed building this one, but not painting it! Lovely kit.

P-40 up next!

Great work and I'm still having counselling as it's not a Spit ;-)

On to the P-40B now....

I'm quite surprised as there are few parts than in the Zero, but hopefully it's just as nice to build!

Started painting the interior bits already. As with the Zero, this one will be built gear-up, with both aircraft in a dogfight pose.

Well, that was quick!

Fuselage, wings, cockpit and spinner already put together!

The instrument panel needs painting, but that's a 30-second job. No worries. At this rate, I'll have them all done by Christmas!

Sorry this has slowed down somewhat - been busy at work, and still trying to adjust to night shift!

That being said, the P-40 has had its first coat of grey on the undersides. I'm just about to make a start on the second coat. I like the fact that this one is only two colours! :-D

First coat of OD on top:

Will need to retouch the grey a bit, but it's going on OK.

I realise there's a whopping great water mark in the photos, so I'll take some better photos a bit later on.

Now, on to the Kate....!

There's a lot of plastic in here for a 1/72 single-engine aircraft!

I assembled the wings first, remember (just!) to put the bomb-aimer's glazing into the holes provided first.

I'm afraid it's not looking likely for me to get the Kate finished by the end of my extension.

Still, like the Meatloaf song says: "Two out of three ain't bad." :-D
