I'm afraid I haven't been following the group builds much of late but I had a quick peek at this as the P-40 is a great looking fighter IMHO. What an excellent job you've done so far Jeff and this is a really nice looking quarter scale kit from Airfix.

You're making nice work of what looks to be a great kit.

I am calling this one done with 7 hours left before the New Year. Joined the party late and was not sure that it would be done. But the kit attracted me to the bench and made it fun.

Overall I feel that the Airfix P40 is a great value for the money. It is adequately detailed with a few optional parts. Fit is real good with minimum muss and fuss. A real joy to build. The majority of naysayers have opened the box but not built it.

A very good job. Great paintwork. I have to say I've been moving away from single wing kits onto biplanes of late but I could be converted back briefly with this kit such is the quality of your build.

I like the idea of having the wing/fuselage fairings separate as that's how the real plane would have been. Like the Mustang and the Mosquito the wing was constructed in two sections bolted(or glued) together on the centre-line and then the fuselage placed on top then bolted to the wing. That's why the cockpit floor was curved, it was the top of the wing. The fairings just covered the join.
