P40B #155 **Finished**
I'm going to sort of blitz this one, maybe about 3 - 4 days days.
I'm busy part of Monday then from next Friday evening I'll not be modelling for about a week so this needs to be done by next Thursday.
I think I can do it.
I'll use the Airfix kit. I've not built one of these yet.
Parts;
This kit comes with decals for an AVG Hawk 81, but I've done a P40 in these markings already. I'll cobble up what I need from my files
A short time later; some construction done, interior areas painted. The fuselage join will need some fillers as there is some raggedness at the points I cut the sprue off
Parts on the frames have got matt black undercoat/primer to be ready for their colour coats.
In some other boxings Airfix supply this kit with one Pearl Harbor defence pilot's markings. I intend to do a different one; P40B #155 flown by Lt. K. M. Taylor 47th PS. He claimed 4 victories.
Should I use a brighter yellow-green for the interior areas? I used H 226.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Re: P40B #155
Not an authority but I think Curtis used a sort of bronze green for the interior. So it would be darker. Looking at your photos it looks good from here.
Great progress.

I use this site for US interiors, kind of turned everything I thought I knew on it's head.

Re: P40B #155
Thanks chaps. I'd already read through that site and a few others
I stuck with my green
It looks like a P40 now
A few touches of filler. Once they're rubbed smooth its on with the neutral grey and olive drab.

Re: P40B #155
Nice work; it looks like it fits together nicely like the Zero
Best wishes

Re: P40B #155
I'm beginning to think this has become a Blitzbau and not a 4 week GB.
Nice work so far on a very tidy little kit.

Thank you for the site information. Been around that site before but not quite there. Great build. Looks super.

Nice work, Fred. The P-40 is as nice to build as the Zero, I reckon.

Re: P40B #155
Nearly done; ready for decals tomorrow, a few bits to touch in and then a matt varnish coat
I've added a rudimentary ring & bead sight, drilled out the cowling mgs and used aluminium foil in the landing light.
The strbrd u/c leg set with a slight twist to it. Its not noticeable when the P40 sits properly.

Re: P40B #155
Finished on Friday afternoon.
A bit of silvering of some decals caused by the deep panel lines. Next time I'll fill those lines till they are shallower.

Very nice build.
It looks like one of the guns got bent outta whack in the top pic. Easy enough to do with this model.
