iggie's last minute Zero ***FINISHED***

7 December 1941 -- any subject, air, land or sea, any kit, any scale -- as long as the subject participated in Pearl Harbor and carries appropriate markings.
The GB runs Dec 3 through Jan 1 2017 and your host is Lancfan.

iggie's last minute Zero ***FINISHED***

Post by iggie »

better late than never (other opinions are available  ), and subject to work commitments interrupting yet again, this is my entry for the GB: Airfix 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M2b 'Zero'.
Totally un-original choice (and apologies to those who are already embarked with this particular aircraft but it should fit the time available....
The kit

Half an hour's work

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Sort of! :-D
Time is at a premium recently so I've got to work fast to stand any chance of finishing.....
A little more work this evening has seen the addition of the engine and cowling, and everything else bar the U/C. I've painted the underside with Tamiya IJN grey in preparation for masking ready for the top side colour. I'm going to try humbrol malachite green for that
Piccies tomorrow
Best wishes

Cheers Chaps!

Somewhere about my PC I have some pictures.....but can't seem to lay my hands on them just yet
Suffice to say that top-side has now had two coats (I bottled out of using the Malachite Green as I found a jar of Tamiya JN Green  ) and the engine cowl is now coal black...
Best wishes

As I recall, they came in a set of five shaped scissors from Hobbycraft for about £6 :-D

Can't find the in-progress shots; I know they are around somewhere on this damn PC but they are not in the usual place!

The better news is that it's finished and I have the photos to prove it :-D
It's a cracking little kit, totally 'blitz-able' and requires no filler at all. Paints are Tamiya in the main, with some Humbrol and Revell bits, with Xtracrylix matt varnish overall to finish
